“Hip-hop music has infiltrated the entire world culture. I hear it everywhere,” Boog Brown said. Boog (“as in Boogie”) is a writer/composer and hip-hop artist. She will bring her rhythms and rhymes to Frederick on Friday.
Blinding Sun Records owner/operator Jamie Waller continues his hip-hop proselytizing with this show, featuring Boog, Kev Brown, Sean Touré and Kaimbr, with DJ Minus Nine spinning. Bentz Street Sports Bar will provide the venue.
In interviews, Boog, Touré, Brown and Kaimbr revealed the thoughts, motivations and histories that led to their becoming musicians and performers. These four musicians were asked the same four questions and their responses were as varied as the music they produce. Those interviews were invariably held in the middle of the night, (musician’s lunchtime), and though the conversations with these artists were sometimes a little loose and rambling because of the hour, their answers were thoughtful, thought-provoking and considered.
